Gallarus getting their first look at the new Túath tribe, Josh, voted out at the first Tribal Council.
Today's challenge is going to be fun and creative, but also show how well you can connect to the culture you've been immersed in these last four days. Earlier in Treemail each tribe was instructed to choose a representative for a special event . .. ... .. . .. ... .. . .. ... .. . .. ... .. . .. ... .. . .. ... .. . .. ... .. . .. ... .. . .. ... .. . .. ... .. .
Earlier today these two castaways faced off in a Duel, up for grabs was the choice on which campsite your tribe starts with in this challenge; either the ruins or a desolate beach.
Each tribe must create a one-of-a-kind campsite, whilst staying true to the location - Blasket Islands. There are no strict creative requirements in this challenge other than your tribe flag must be visible in your final product. The rest is left entirely up to artistic freedom!Five iSurv1vor Production members, and five loyal prediction writers will make up a panel of judges in which to score this challenge. Their decision will be based on a scale between 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest) for a total of 100 maximum points to earn, per tribe. The identity of the panel will be revealed when the challenge results are posted. If your tribe is able to create the best-looking, realistic, overall most impressive campsite within the given requirements - Immunity is yours.
Each group of gatherers will have 30 minutes on call with Production to post/gather images in a tribal thread. These images must be everything and anything you want to see be used to build your campsite. Production has created a thread titled, "Gathering" in your tribe camp on this forum. This is where the five of you will gather all your images. Choose a posting order, stick to it, and post as many images you can before time runs out.
Each group of builders will have a 1 hour window (15 minutes to plan and 45 minutes to execute) with Production to create a stunning campsite. Creators MUST USE ALL photos provided by the gatherers with all tribe brainstorming and work will taking place in the same Skype Chat created by Production, keeping in mind that during this time everyone must participate and help in the building of camp.
Any questions please contact Production through Skype.
....choose your starting campground! Post your decision below!

In our team’s first activity, our gatherers gathered the following: 2 donkeys, 2 campfires, a boat, a sac of potatoes, wheat, trees, tents, a cooking pot, firewood, baskets, tools (such as a rake, and spears), and torches. -Two donkeys were gathered for this assignment because they are native animals to the Blasket Islands and because they are useful for transporting baskets (hopefully full of food we grow or hunt) back and forth to camp. -Baskets were gathered so that our team has a place to store items we collect over time in a safe, secure place. Tools—like the rake and spear—can be used for cultivating crops and hunting fish; hopefully, deer and birds that live on the islands may be hunted as well. -Campfires are obviously essential to gather for our campsite because they can be used to keep our tribe warm and to cook food we catch. -The pot is used to cook food and boil water. Torches are lit with our camp fires and used to guide us in the woods at night. -Fire wood is used to create fires. Potatoes are natural crops that can grow and be cultivated on the island, and were gathered as a food source to sustain our tribe. -The boat is used to find active fishing spots in the water, and perhaps for recreational purposes… everyone deserves to have a little bit of fun! -Trees are used for shelter from rain, and the summer sun, as well as for firewood to sustain our nightly campfires; also, they can be used to lean our tents on for support. Finally, the tents are our ultimate form of shelter in the camp. Tents isolate us from the potentially dangerous animals, and weather that could harm us on the island. Unfortunately, we were not provided with any bagpipes from our tribe, but it is predicted that we will still have some great campfire jam sessions in our future on the island. Our tribe name is featured in the photo as well, with a shade of green, and our names. We chose to make green our tribe color because it represents the primary, representative color of Ireland, as well as the general color to represent nature. As a survivor game, becoming one with nature is fundamental aspect of our tribe’s journey, and thus, makes green the best color to represent Gallarus. Finally, we added a three leaf clover to our picture because it embodies both the color green, and the Irish cultural background that fills the island. - Rosie & The Gallarus Tribe

On our beach - on the outskirts of Blasket Island [Na Blascaodai] - Or if your into Norse demi gods, "Brasker" - a dangerous place County Kerry also known as the "people of Ciar" in Gaelic.
If we win a reward we may be able to catch a cricket match or a football game. Ironically, many of the people of Blasket Island have ended up in Springfield Massachusetts - where tribemates/ blood pairs Daniel and Maranda were born and raised.
Moving on to the tribe camp to bring some tribe unity and some food source down the road if we suck at challenges some chickens and sheep. We have a fire to keep warm when and if it doesn't rain which happens alot thankfully we got this kick ass shelter to keep us somewhat dry. A tribe flag and country flag to represent this great green country.
To the left resides a dock - Dunquin - Focal center of Blasket, this is where boats leave the island.
Trevor was the captain of this challenge bringing everything together and adding all the our elements. Maranda doing the write up . Mikey and Carina added chicken food to add that extra depth to the challenge and chicken named Constance (Eddie cannot wait to eat Constance) as well as a filter. Patrick added the fire drawing it on Photoshop with a paintbrush and adding it to our final product and cropped the sheep. Maranda will be adding sheep.
We added tools because we needed to build our shelter and a backpack to put such tool in. The boat for Sandy and production to travel back and forth.

Gallarus I'll begin with the one required element which has seemingly been disregarded in your picture; the tribe flag. Although you have included your tribe insignia you've placed it onto a stump when in all Survivor seasons a flag is on show, the insignia itself looks too big to be supported onto the stump itself. Sandy said that not including the flag would be a risk and it hasn't paid off in this instance. From a designing standpoint everything looks out of place, you have food laid out across the grass, a motorboat, the shelter itself looks as though it wouldn't fit half your tribe... I'm not feeling this at all and that is a shame. I would have loved to see you incorporate more of the ruins but as you've blanketed it with the shelter instead as if you didn't want to include the Blaskets culture at all. Your write up has no justification for what is included in the picture, you mention torches (plural) but there's only one torch on show (which is bigger than your shelter) you've taken it upon yourselves to make green your tribe color when it's brown and there's a giant GREEN clover just laid against the GREEN grass which you could easily misplace as part of the grass itself. I feel as though this was a very lazy submission, given the amount of prep time it could've been handled better - a poor showing, guys.
3/10
Túath The required element of the flag is there, me gusta. I like the smaller banners on either side as well, though they would be more suited at challenge areas I think it's a nice touch so I can let it slide. The spacing and sizing of the images look alright but I do have a slight issue with the giant sheep standing by the shoreline by comparison to your tribe boat. I like that you went for a minimalistic look, y'all are in the early stages of the game so your camp would be somewhat empty. The shelter does have the Irish flag which is a nice touch but not entirely sure how you would've obtained that item. The write-up has meaning behind it, I like how there's a connection to Dan and Maranda as well with the Blasket natives moving over to America, there's a slight nod to Constance who was left behind despite that her loved one resides on Gallarus, overall I really do like the camp by comparison to your rivals. I also like how each person contributed to the camp, there is a lack of uniformity to it but that's just nitpicking! A good submission considering having the weaker scenery of the two camp sites.

Gallarus: The write-up is very good, well organized, and explains the food, shelter, and various items the tribe will use to survive the Blasket Islands. There is charm and humour thrown in for good measure. The camp, however, is bleak. That poor brown donkey is squished. The tribe flag that Tucker clearly posted is not present, though another idea has taken its place. The weapons and tools mentioned are not present in the picture, unless they are so badly placed or mis-sized that they are no longer recognizable. Is that a fishing rod or a pencil accident rising over the tribe signpost? That grain spilling onto the ground should have the rats it is attracting, the ones that run over the castaways' faces at night. Perhaps a rat-gigging-stick should also be present, and one roasting over the flames. Tree and Fire seem off from the tone of the picture, the tree so dark it cannot possibly be on that distant peninsula. 5/10 +3 for the picture, +2 for writeup. Tuath: The driftwood shelter doesn't have many supplies around it, it's pretty bleak. Perhaps the other tribe won a potato reward last round and this tribe is still waiting for their bounty to arrive. The boat is perfectly placed, and sheep sized with the perspective (though the one in the distance is horse-sized, eat her first.) Watching the picture progress, it started with an extinguished fire, and at the last minute, someone added flames, yahoo! The write-up is a mix of quick research and very casual language, jumps around a bit on topics. Addition of banners next to tribe flag adds to the Survivor feel, as does the flag-as-shelter-roof callback to Colby Donaldson. This tribe lost the pick and ended up with the beach the others didn't want. It was a more challenging surface to work on, with a deep perspective that needed to be taken into account: a flat image would not do. Yet the many items and structures sit naturally against the backdrop, and the tribe did not fill the empty space unnecessarily, giving it an artistic feel, rainbow and all. 8/10 -1 for horse sheep, -1 for slangy writeup.

Gallarus: So I'll start with the high points of this camp. I LOVE the fact that you guys thought about the fact that you need FOOD at camp, which is evident with the bag of potatoes, wheat and the pot to cook in. I also appreciate the fact that you guys included baskets because storage is definitely important around camp in keeping items safe and secure. I'm also glad to see firewood and a fishing pole are clear and visible. As for some of the downsides, the first issue I have is that you guys said in your write up that trees are used for shelter from rain and for support for your tent. As i type this, I am squinting hardcore to find said trees and the only one i can see is out on the island away from the shelter. Another major issue I have is the placement of items. The wheat and potatoes are literally lying out in the open, ready to be blown away by the wind or ruined by possible weather. Critical items like those should be kept close to the shelter. I also don't get why a boat was picked to be at camp...well actually i understand why you would WANT a boat but its not a realistic item. I also don't understand why the tribe flag was not used...that was basically a freebie item. Not sure why you guys tried to change your tribe color or where the shade of green even is besides in the grass and the four leaf clover. Final Score: 6/10
Tuath: So this definitely looks like a realistic Survivor campsite that would be featured on the show for a tribe that hasn't won a challenge. Starting off with the shelter, I like how you guys incorporated the Irish flag above it. I also like that you included the tribe flag, which was a requirement. One of my biggest complaints though is, WHERE ARE THE SUPPLIES?? I see no supplies for hunting, fishing, cooking, storage, etc. I also don't think it is wise to have the campfire so close to the shelter because we all know what can happen with the wrong gust of wind. I appreciate you guys using sheep, but they're just standing there randomly in the middle of camp. Shouldn't they be tied or at least off to the side somewhere? I think item selection could have been better but at least you guys got the tribe flag in it. Final Score: 5/10

Gallarus
Negatives: Going into and helping create this challenge, I thought "Wow, they have a lot of freedom with this, there's not a lot of rules for them." I feel like somehow, you guys forgot about a pretty significant rule when you guys did not include your flag that was provided to you. If you guys made something that was better than what was supplied to you, I think it would've worked out to your advantage, this is not better though. Additionally, trying to "change" your tribe color to green was a confusing decision. Not only because it wasn't what was assigned to you, besides the given grass and a mammoth three-leaf clover that should be four for luck, I don't see any other "green pride" going on. There are a couple things on the write-up I just don't see, and this is so small, but it's a "sack" of potatoes. Lastly, the boat is unrealistic for Survivor.
Positives: Rosie, your write-up is fun, a good read, and I like how you included all the items your Gatherers provided for you. While I believe this camp was given an advantage on livability, even taking that away from you I feel that your camp looks better. All the little oddities you've included like the sack of potatoes and the pot and baskets, you guys really made it look like a campsite that you could survive for a while in. The addition of the torch that is lacking from the other tribe is a nice touch.
Túath
Negatives: One of the biggest things that makes me shake my head is in the very first part of the write-up, "your" is used instead of "you're," when multiple sets of eyes had the chance to fix such a minor and annoying mistake. You guys are literally losing a whole point out of 10 from me for this. The write-up, while I appreciate the little bit of history we got in it, is not very engaging and in my opinion, needs a face lift. I wish you guys had included more survival-esque items in your camp, I don't feel I could survive for an extended amount of time there. This might just be me, but I don't think sheep go on the beach, what is there for them to do on the beach? They should've gone in the grassy area if anywhere.
Positives: What you have put around your camp is done impeccably. I am really in love with your canoe (although it looks like it's about to be taken away by the tide) and Irish flag on top of your shelter. You guys actually USED your Túath flag, which surprisingly gets a round of applause from me. The additional flags on the side are a nice touch and I get a lot more "color pride" from you guys than I did the other tribe. For the picture you guys were given, I feel you used it pretty well, given that you really shouldn't make a shelter in the middle of the beach anyways.
Gallarus: 5/10 (Confusing choices, better livability factor) Túath: 7/10 (Negligent write-up ["your"], followed the few rules, appreciable photo-shopping)

Gallarus - Brown Tribe This probably sounds like a damn broken record but I guess we all like to hear ourselves fucking talk. Gallarus has FIVE (5) alumni playing compared to TWO (2) on the other tribe so it is highly disappointing that somehow you don't follow the one damn rule. The tribe flags are sexy as hell so why you wouldn't use it is truly beyond me. The alumni should know how imperitive it is to follow the damn rules! I do appreciate that you have supplies for food, a fire and a pot to cook. I appreciate your reasoning for having the donkeys since I was initially questioning why you chose donkeys - aka they have purpose. Now wtf is going on with the random tree you say that is for shelter but it is on the island across the way?? Or the lovely boat that is not even close to a realistic item in a real survivor game. Sure you deserve to have fun - a hand built raft or something would of made more sense. Overall - No tribe flag hurts you bad but you have reasoning for all of your items, food to eat, a pot to cleanse your water and wood to keep your fire burning. 7/10 Tuath - Purple Tribe I am happy you have one chicken for food but that isn't going to last you long. And if you have a Tai on your tribe then you might not kill "Constance." Little morbid naming the chicken after one of the prior players - but it is what it is. Also, I appreciate you sticking to the culture of the Blasket Islands by adding in the sheep but what is their purpose? You have a fire but nothing to keep it going and nothing to cook with? I really think its awesome you have the Ireland flag as part of the roof of your shelter. You have a more realistic boat for the theme of survivor. Overall - The tribe flag and Ireland flag are awesome. However, the sheep have no purpose, you have no way to feed yourself or make water so you don't get sick (too much Naked and Afraid watching and seeing people get sick from drinking bad water). 6/10

Gallarus:Honestly, your camp is not very unique. You can apply this camp to the vast majority of iSurv1vor locations, or anywhere. Put iSurv1vor in Antarctica and little would need to change. Yes, you included a couple of animals and a sack of potatoes, but not very overwhelming. You had a choice of camps, so an attempt at things specific to your camp would be nice. And the, what I am guessing you are using as a flag. I am not calling it that myself because, it isn't. It's nice, don't get me wrong, BUT IT IS NOT A FLAG. Also, that four leaf clover is awful. However, I would say graphically, it is better produced. The builders did well with what they had. But what you had wasn't the best. Tuath:Yours seems like it would fit more at Gallarus' setting, if you had the ruins I would give a higher score. Now, I know you didn't pick your venue, but work with what you have and ultimately, you didn't get to choose because you lost the duel. However, while I didn't like it all with your actual setting, I think it fits in well with the overall theme of the Blasket Islands. You also included your flag, which is definitely a plus. The Irish flag shelter, while not feasible in actual Survivor, was a nice touch. Scores: Gallarus: 4 - Would have been a 6 if you had your actual flag, a 7 if your write up also didn't suck in comparison to your opponents. Tuath: 8 - Your write up took it up a mark, really good job

Gallarus Tribe: First question. Where is your tribe flag? The name of the tribe is on your picture but that is all. Your items look somewhat organized but i personally think there should be more. The shelter is small and not big enough at all. The clover is just placed in the grass and looks way out of place. I dont get it. I like the clover but i wish yall would have put it in a different spot. Those donkeys omg they look soooo random. The boats also. I would imagine on a survivor island you wouldnt see freaking yachts and stuff. Yall should have used like a canoe or something. It does look nice and neat but yall had time to do more and it doesnt look like that much effort was put into the challenge. Overall i think yall could have done more but it was an okay job done. Score: 5/10 Túath Tribe : Good Job on using your flag. I believe you used the right type of boat for survivor. Lets talk about that fire. I dont like how everything look realistic but the fire looks like clip art. That is the biggest problem I have. The sheep are huge you could ride those instead of the boat because they are so huge. I wish more things would have been used. There was plenty of time to add more to the picture but i guess less is more sometimes. I like the write up it was really well written. So props to that. That one little chicken.... now how are yall gonna all eat on the one little chicken. Over all i think yall did a pretty decent job. Score: 7/10

The Gallarus Tribe The first thing that caught my eye was the missing tribe flag. The directions looked pretty clear that the flag had to be included, so that was a big turn off for me. You had the tribe name on the wood but it looked awkward. You mention that your torches are lit by the fire, yet there is only one torch in the picture. I was like wow! Who tried to sabotage the rice when I saw the rice on the ground. The potatoes are just hanging out too, even though you said you had baskets to put the food in. It took me a minute to find the boat because I was looking for a survivor style boat, that you would see in an immunity challenge. Not a Jeff Probst taking the votes to Los Angeles style boat; a little much. I was confused on the shelter; you keep using the word tent but it looked like wood with cargo netting or leaves against it. I would have just called it shelter for lack of better wording; shelter for 1 or 2 possibly 3? Also, I think you should have left the bagpipe part out as I don't think anyone would have said, "Man, I wish they had some bagpipes in this picture" but now that you mentioned it, I'm like wow, that would be kind of cool. And isn't your tribe color not green? Score: 4 Túath Tribe First impression... this looks like a survivor camp. I felt the survivor vibe from this camp site. I like the team flag being there but not being the dominate item. I also like the two little flags next to it. Just felt a good vibe from that. I like that you did your research and made the connection to your tribe ( #TeacherProblems ) but I don't think you needed to mention the reward part and what it could be. Just like Gallarus and torches v.s. torch, we have chickens v.s. chicken over here. I would have included more chickens and less oversized sheep. Just my opinion. I don't really know if you can use an item for unity and food at the same time. Someone is going to be attached to billy the sheep and you are going to want to kill him because you are hungry and well, there goes your unity. I think the Ireland flag as a nice touch but a little cliche... but it works in this picture! I do fancy your boat over Gallarus' boat though, as it is more survivor-like. I also like how you describe what each person did for this picture to show team work and tribe unity. Score: 8

Gallarus : First off I liked that your guys added things that are native to Ireland ( the donkeys. Four leaf clover, the potatoes) but donkeys are really hard to see. They are too far in the background. I do like the sign with the team name but I wish y'all added the tribe flag. That's a main thing at survivor camps. The other camp supplies are just laid out in the grass which is basic. But they are all there. The spear is kinda out of place. I also liked the Shelter. It's a good size without taking up too much of the picture. I just feel like there is too much blank space. Adding some of the supplies to the bottom right would have helped with that. It's overall good. I thought the write up was the best part. 7/10 Tuath: I'm glad you guys added the tribe flag but I wished it was a little bigger. I know still you guys have the beach picture you only really have the sand area to work with. So I can't be mad that it feels empty. I liked that you added facts are Ireland that related to your tribe members. But the write up was lacking. Your shelter is too small. And the flag seems out of place. Are you even allowed to use flags as tarps? Overall it's fine but boring. 5/10
